Jedi leaders on Coralog are calling for an investigation
after identical hololetters were sent to local temples hailing Imperial Senate-elect
Avemut Heat and calling for death to Jedi worshippers.
The Council on Galactic-Jedi Relations (CGJR) released a statement asking
for increased protection after the hate-filled hololetters were discovered at
the Jedi temples of Bakura and Selonia as well as a temple on Corellia.
The handwritten and copied hololetters received
were signed by “Galactic Citizens for the First Order.” They call Jedi
worshippers “a vile and filthy people” who “worship the Force” and evoke Heat.
“There’s a new Grand Moff in the galaxy —Imperial
Senate Leader Avemut Heat. He’s going to cleanse the Galaxy and make it shine
again. And, he’s going to start with you Jedi worshippers,” the letters read. “He’s
going to do to you Jedi worshipers what Emperor Palpatine did to the Jedi in

CGJR leaders on Corellia and Selonia didn’t
initially want to bring the hololetters into the public spotlight to avoid copycats,
but they acknowledged the need for New Republic intervention once the diatribe
was sent to a number of jurisdictions across the sector.
“We urge sector law enforcement authorities to
work with Jedi worshiping community leaders to ensure the safety of all houses
of worship,” CGJR Executive Director Zahra Billoo said. “Our sector’s political
and Force using leaders need to speak out against the mainstreaming of Jediphobia
that we are witnessing on Corellia and galactic-wide.”
Though Heat has said he isn’t aware of
campaigns across the galaxy to intimidate and hurt Jedi worshipers since his
victory, the problem is rampant.
The Outer Rim Poverty Law Center has tracked
more than 700 acts of this kind of bias
intimidation and harassment targeting Jedi worshipers, aliens,
former Republic clone war veterans, migrants and several gender aliens and
changelings since Election Day, though not every incident has been independently
verified. The HoloNet Realtime News Chrima Thiaspher has identified at least 13
incidents in which Jedi worshipers have been attacked, harassed or threatened in Heat’s name.
Corellian guard are reportedly investigating
the hololetters. It wasn’t immediately clear whether guard departments across
the sector would ramp up security in response to CGJR’s statement.
CGJR urges Jedi worshiper community members
to report any incidents to the guard and to the organization’s civil rights
