SWAG 77 Performs on Facebook Pages

Our rules and standards stipulate that all “formal performances” that take place on SWAG 77 pages, which are found on the SWAG 77 NAV Coordinates, are done by Facebook Pages only and not profile pages.

Amateur performers must have a Facebook Page and it must be approved by SWAG 77 and is a part of the audition and training for membership.

A “Notice of Acknowledgement” must be completed and posted thanking SWAG 77 members and the ISCA for assistance.

Professional News Organizations Know Better Than To Attack Star Wars Convention Goers!

Recently, there has been a spate over a post by a local news station from Miami, Florida covering Star Wars Celebration 6 in Orlando, Florida, August 23rd – 26th, 2012.

What they did was take pictures of costumed players or cosplayers, posted them on their websites with very offensive and snide remarks. Some of them of children.

The 501st Legion which is for cosplayers of the Original Trilogy of Star Wars (Darth Vader, Stormtroopers, Rebels) who often travel or troop for charity events and raise money are very angry by these rude comments.

Cosplayers for key organizations follow rigorous standards for their costume builds and attempting to create a believable costume is creative and fun as a hobby.

When cosplayers are attacked for that, it hurts science fiction fandom for movies, literature and games. Sure individuals are “nerds” or “geeks” that dress up in costume, but the smile on children’s faces are enough reason to do it. There are worse hobbies… But even that, bashing adults dressing up at a Convention in their costumes is not a good way to go, especially for a professional news organization.

It is one thing for one person to bash another, while not fun to be at the butt end of that joke, still it is contained. It is another thing when a professional news organization permits that kind of immature mentality and have it pervade on their social media. It shows poor controls of appropriate content management. Any discrepancies or prejudices a reporter and journalist has toward subject matter leaves biased opinion and is not news. That kind of conjecture portrayed in said images from WPLG Local 10 News is an editorial and suggests the limited scope and insensitivity of comments of the pictures.
And the internet is written in ink, not pencil. A hard lesson for this “professional news organization” to learn.

Welcome Newbies to SWAG77 Social Media Entertainment!

For beginners to performance, roleplay – RP or portrayal of favorite characters in Star Wars: This SWAG77 blog is for you!

SWAG77 is the Star Wars Actors Guild 77. We are social media entertainment and performance. We create, develop, write and perform stories for social media entertainment. We also have a podcast, SWAG77 Podcast.

All our cast studies a rigorous approval process to maximize their creative expression on social media production.

Lucasfilm recognized us at Star Wars Celebration VI in Orlando, Florida. Our fan table was the only one of involved with social media entertainment on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Google+.

Annually, there are potential new members who are new to the Star Wars franchise and their familiarity with it is limited. SWAG77 members wish to cultivate our potential new members to enjoy their entertainment experiences. It permits the cast for elevated performance that entertains and excites as new stories are told. Our metrics indicate our methods work.

We want all potential new members to feel free to ask honest and innocent questions that relate to Star Wars Lore. Lucasfilm told us to maintain character canon, continuity and timeline. We observe their wishes with meticulous page creation and development. Our process involves images, conversations, quotes from sources and continuous interrogation. Our standard of excellence is high performance that suspends the audience’s disbelief on social media.
