We all live in a galaxy where there are holocameras and there’s nothing new, really, about the spotlight on me; I think that’s what happens when you’re a public figure. I’ve learned that there are many sides to a story, and that sometimes there are a lot of stories out there which are false, and the hardest thing is to try to not let those falsehoods affect your own life. That’s what I would say.

Authoritarians prioritize social order and hierarchies, which bring a sense of control to a chaotic [galaxy]. Challenges to that order — diversity, influx of outsiders, breakdown of the old order — are experienced as personally threatening because they risk upending the status quo order they equate with basic security.

If you can control an alien’s thinking you do not have to worry about his action. When you determine what an alien shall think you do not have to concern yourself about what he will do. If you make an alien feel that he is inferior, you do not have to compel him to accept an inferior status, for he will seek it himself. If you make an alien think that he is justly an outcast, you do not have to order him to the back vacuum locked door. He will go without being told; and if there is no back vacuum locked door, his very nature will demand one.

Our Human High Culture will never tolerate on equal terms any being who is even remotely tainted with alien blood, but they do not make the same objection to near humans, like the Arkanians, the Chiss, the Umbarans, etc.

Every bad actor is going to get worse. Every bad actor in the galaxy has taken the measure of the man Supreme Leader Snoke and determined there are no consequences, there is no price to be paid. So, what Kylo Ren and General Hux did is just the beginning.

Tec Ruzd, Galactic Republic Senate Leader Candidate

Why of course the people don’t want war… But after all it is the Imperial senators of the galaxy who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the sentient beings along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship… Voice or no voice, the sentient beings can always be brought to the bidding of the Empire. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the Rebels for lack of patriotism and exposing the galaxy to danger. It works the same on any planet.
