A New Star Wars RPG? Should We Have One? By P. Reynolds

It has just been revealed to today that Obsidian Entertainment, which developed Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II- The Sith Lords, has been trying to pitch a Star Wars RPG idea to Lucasarts. According to sources, it appears that Obsidian has been pitching this idea to Lucasarts for a while now and now, following Disney acquisition of Lucasfilm LTD, are planning on pitching the idea to The Walt Disney Company.

The RPG, Role-Playing Game, would be based between Star Wars: Episode III and IV when the Emperor is securing his power in the galaxy. This comes after EA’s Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO failed to catch fire and didn’t perform as expected. But this isn’t the only RPG type game Disney has been pitched.

Marvel Entertainment LLC, a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company, is getting an MMORPG, which means Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game. This game is being developed by Gazillion Entertainment and is called Marvel Heroes. Disney approved Marvel Heroes so will they approve another game? Probably. The difference between an RPG and an MMORPG is that an MMORPG is an online based Role-Playing Game in which you Role-Play with numerous people. But an RPG is a game in which your Role-Play as a character by yourself.

Will Disney approve this new Star Wars RPG? We won’t know until we get official confirmation from Obsidian Entertainment, Lucasarts, and The Walt Disney Company.
