Artists keep asking, “Why are people using AI instead of commissioning REAL ARTISTS?? 😭”
Okay, fine.
Here’s the version you won’t repost because it burns:
Because dealing with some of you is like navigating a landmine field built entirely out of ego.
You know what commissioners are tired of?
Paying $200+ just to feel like they need to apologize for breathing.
Like sorry for wanting the product I literally paid you actual money for??
My bad for being a customer instead of a worshipper.
Some of y’all act like you’re taking commissions under duress.
Like someone’s holding you hostage off-screen forcing you to draw anime fanart for cash.
You picked the job—why are your clients the ones suffering for it??
AI didn’t swoop in like a supervillain.
It just showed up and said:
“Tell me what you want.”
And then… did it.
Without attitude.
Without superiority complexes.
Without emotional theatrics worthy of a CW show.
Commissioning certain artists feels like winning a golden ticket to Willy Wonka’s Nightmare Factory:
• Rules on rules on rules
• No communication
• No deadlines
• No accountability
• Random mood swings
• And at the end of it, maybe—maybe—you get a drawing
Ask for updates?
Suddenly you’re the Wicked Villain of Entitlement Mountain™.
Ask for a revision?
Now you’re “disrespecting the craft.”
Ask for the art after 6 months?
Wow, “harassment.”
Incredible. Truly.
You know what’s wild?
AI’s biggest advantage isn’t speed or accuracy.
It’s that it doesn’t treat commissioners like an inconvenience it can subtweet about.
Some artists really be like:
“AI stole my clients!! 😫”
Did it?
Or did you lose them because you acted like emailing a paying customer was equivalent to a war crime?
Commissioners aren’t fleeing to AI because they’re soulless monsters.
They’re fleeing because they’re tired of being villainized for wanting clarity, consistency, or—god forbid—professionalism.
AI doesn’t:
• Ghost you
• Block you mid-commission
• Start beef on Twitter
• Post “I’m overwhelmed 😔” while taking 12 more clients
• Shame you for liking a certain style
• Treat you like human spam
And when AI messes up?
You can just… try again.
No tantrums, no guilt, no emotional hostage situation.
It doesn’t take your money and vanish into the digital ether.
Artists said “AI has no soul.”
Okay, fair.
But a lot of commissioners would prefer no soul over no communication, no transparency, and no accountability.
This is the part that stings:
AI didn’t push commissioners away from artists.
Artists’ behavior pushed commissioners toward AI.
People chose the option that doesn’t punish them for existing.
Treat clients like actual human beings, and they’ll stay.
Treat them like annoyances, ATMs, or enemies…
and they’ll leave.
It’s not deep.
It’s not philosophical.
It’s customer service 101.
AI isn’t replacing artists.
It’s replacing stress, ego, and unearned superiority.
If that hits you personally… maybe it should.
