Read how SWAG77 got noticed by Lucasfilm
started as “Star Wars Roleplaying University” in 2011 to assist new performers in improvisation techniques and writing. There were several courses organized. Due to circumstances, beyond our control, SWRPU had to change.
All pages associated with Star Wars that were under ISCA were moved to SWAG77 for one unifying page dedicated to the promotion of Star Wars fandom on social media. To unleash one’s inner fandom online and promote real life fan related activities.
One page was SWRPU. However, to be fair to other groups, it was decided to allow SWRPU should be an autonomous entity. Its sole goal was to help performers write creatively, set up their social media and market their efforts in a professional manner. The goal for SWRPU was to show Lucasfilm a novel form of entertainment and performance of their products on social media.
However, in the business of social media entertainment and performance, things rarely go as planned and business expectations could not be predicted. The owner of SWAG77 and SWRPU was cyberattacked, late 2011 and partially resolved until early 2012.
SWAG77 retooled and shifted its policies to a traditional form of social media and introduced several products to the market. The shift changed the goal and name of the SWRPU to “Star Wars Performance University”.
In 2012 and 2015 SWAG77 was accepted to have 2 fan tables at Star Wars Celebration.
All activities of SWAG77 must comply with Lucasfilm standards and one of them is removing the word “Roleplaying” from the activities on social media.
SWAG77 also has to agree to perform canon characters only and stay within the continuity of the canon.
SWAG77 are like “Costumed Players” or “Cosplayers”, but we are online. Everything we use to perform is from Lucasfilm licensed and published materials.
As such, SWAG77 and Star Wars Performance University (SWPU) must follow the guidelines of the social media platform, such as Facebook and only use pages to represent their fictional characters. SWAG77 will no longer use profiles to perform. Anyone using a profile to perform will only be seen as a member of the audience or a heckler.
All characters or entities will be performing “in character”. RARELY will the person behind the character release personal information from the page.
“Roleplayers” who lack a page and a character sheet will be seen as a member of the audience and any responses by the Page Character, if there are any responses will be made in character. If there are altercations, the person will be banned from the page.
“Roleplayers” who have inappropriate names for said characters, usually aligning with a lack of a character sheet, will be seen as a member of audience and any responses by the Page Character, if there are any responses, will be made in character. If there are altercations, the person will be banned from the page.
Be realistic, it took many hours of hard work to make this project happen and to catch Lucasfilm’s eye. When someone refuses to follow our rules belligerently in both SWAG77, SWPU and ISCA cannot be tolerated. What we are talking about here is just posting and interacting on our pages… Not “roleplaying” or setting up a story arc for performance. Simply to post and interact.
If these guidelines are ignored, then membership into SWAG77 is compromised. These are courtesies so that posters avoid being banned from our pages.
These are about respecting the process of character development and the work that has been done.
If the SWAG77 organization is for you, we would love to have you come on board through our membership intake process.
If you prefer another group, we wish you much success in your goals!
At SWAG 77, we launched our Asajj Ventress Facebook Character page in 2011. She originally was played as a Nightsister. Ventress was born a witch from the planet Dathomir, but was given up by her mother to save the clan. She was made a slave. When her master was killed, she was handed over to a Jedi, where she began her training. Then her master died, distraught, she left them and began fighting as a warrior in barbaric competitions.
Later, she joined Count Dooku and served him as a Dark Acolyte. She fought in the Clone Wars and would become a rival of Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Then Count Dooku betrayed her and she returned to her home planet, Dathomir to her Nightsisters. The leader of the clan, Mother Talzin helped her get revenge. But attempts failed causing the Nightsister clan to be wiped out by Count Dooku and General Grievous.
When Darth Maul returned she aided her old rival, Master Kenobi to escape the Sith Lord.

Darth Maul was ripped from his twin brother, Savage Opress, as a baby when he was given to Darth Sidious and taken to the planet Mustafar. A droid, TD-D9, cared for and trained him by severe “reward and punishment”.
Every once in awhile, Darth Sidious would gauge his progress. Several times, Darth Maul had extensive lacerations and broke bones. Then one day, Darth Sidious tested Darth Maul in which he passed. He was 13 years old. At that point, Darth Sidious destroyed TD-D9, and took Darth Maul to train at a special school on the planet Orsis.
The Orsis Academy trained military and bounty hunters, but Force Users were not allowed at the school. Through some manipulations, Darth Sidious was permitted to have Darth Maul train there. For 4 years, Darth Maul trained, but the Dark Side of the Force took an “interest” in him and he had to leave.
Darth Maul completed his training with Darth Sidious on the planet Hypori for his final test to become a Sith Lord. Darth Sidious announced:
From this day forward, you are a Sith Lord. You have chosen a path of Darkness, the path of power. You are Lord Maul. You are my instrument.
Then “The Phantom Menace” starts.
There were several Star Wars Novels that were released in succession and we read as much as we could to understand how it was possible for a bisected individuals survive and thrive as a cyborg.
What we found it there are many ways of the Dark Side of the Force, that some find unnatural.
On our page, we perform Darth Maul in Star Wars: The Clone Wars Revenge
He believes he is a Sith Lord. He knows that Darth Sidious dumped him. He knows Darth Sidious has a new apprentice, Darth Tyrannus or Count Dooku. He is also bitter that he was beaten by the puny Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi. Essentially, Darth Maul seeks revenge.
SWAG 77 made our main emblem for Star Wars Celebration as Darth Maul

Oh well the Death Watch (Mando’ade adol Kyr’tsad) is becoming nothing more then a splinter group, thanks to the brave Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi and his master. The Mandalorian government is controlled by the New Mandalorians, the faction also has the majority of the population. So I believe I do! You can ask my co-workers Prime Minister Almec or even Senator Tal Merrik!
Don’t let anyone break your soul. You have to stand on your own two feet and fight. There are those who would do anything to see you fall, never give them the satisfaction, hold your head up high, put a smile on your face and stand your ground!
Master Qui-gon found him on the planet Tatooine when we had to land Queen Amidala’s ship there cause of some damage going through the blockade at Naboo. Qui-gon said he had the highest midi-clorian count he had ever seen, even more than Master Yoda. Qui-gon thought he was the chosen one from the Jedi prophecy. I hope Master Qui-gon was right. (Sighs)
As for you Queen Amidala you will be safe with me.
was born and bred on the planet Naboo in a Galaxy Far, Far Away. He attended elite schools from the house Palpatine.
Sadly, he never quite “fit in” to Nabooian society. He was reckless, always getting into trouble, he was a troubled boy and his aspirations were low.
Then a strange Muun named Hego Damask approached him and offered him a different path…
That path was the way of the Sith…
He first became a Senator of Naboo in the Old Galactic Republic Senate. He had to convince the Queen Padme Amidala to vote of no confidence in Supreme Chancellor Valorum on the taxing of trade routes. Subsequently, the Trade Federation held an embargo on Naboo and the Jedi were sent in to negotiate.
It was then he learned of a little boy strong in the Force named, Anakin Skywalker.
Supreme Chancellor Palpatine was decisive and dictatorial. He often made independent decisions without consulting the body politic. It frustrated the Senators, one of them now being Padme Amidala. But when her life was threatened key vote for militarization, he demanded her to be saved by some “old friends of hers”, Master Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker his padawan.
Then it was realized that part of the Galactic Republic was being torn apart by planets who were seceding and forming a new Galactic government called the Confederacy of Independent Systems, led by a former Jedi named Count Dooku of the planet Serenno.
A decision had to be made and somehow it was discovered that the Republic had placed an order of clones for a “Grand Army of the Republic” to fight a civil war in the Galaxy. It was dubbed, the Clone Wars.
The Clone Wars is where SWAG 77 is mostly directing the character, Supreme Chancellor Palpatine or Darth Sidious. From the reading of several novels, comics and reviewing the movies and televisions shows, we have learned key ways to perform Palpatine on social media entertainment.
During the Clone Wars he was guarded and hidden. He was beneficent, though he was a very evil man as a Sith Lord. He used the “art of the small” to suppress his Dark Side presence (Darth Plagueis novel) that took nearly 30 years to perfect.
While performing him actively, we have learned key character attributes: Keep him laughing, make him chuckle and laugh at all things, use subterfuge and subvert what anyone says with a pleasant smile on the face; and always keep him courteous because it throws the Jedi off from pursuing him.
Images that are preferred are from the Clone Wars, but since the actor, Ian McDiarmid has always been identifiable as Palpatine (Darth Sidious) we include those actively in our performances. Unfortunately, in 2012, the actor who voiced the animated Palpatine, Ian Ambercrombie passed. It is unknown who will voice Palpatine. It is suspected that it will be Ian McDiarmid, but that is unclear at the moment. When SWAG77 attended Star Wars Celebration VI, more will be known as he will be there and well will report it to you our fans immediately!
