Lucasfilm failed its diverse fanbase by not sharing fandom with them. They know that. We’ve written them, before the Disney purchase. So they don’t want to fix it. That’s how it has been for 8 years since SWAG77 involvement.
Well, it’s sad to see the actor, John Boyega, feel that way, but fans don’t get that HUMANS come in different colors just like Twi’leks. In fact some fans take issue with diverse cast members performing lead characters roles and call that fitting in to serve some higher up top down nefarious purpose other than sometimes, diversity takes making it happen than waiting. Because diverse fans of Star Wars have been waiting patiently for over 30 years, and we’re are we? Relegated to one name stormtrooper uniform to be killed in the next shot. When will the bigotry stop? NEVER! So the protests won’t either. And most diverse fans won’t protest by not watching the movie, because it won’t make the producers think. No there’s no stopping “Star Wars: The Last Jedi’s” distribution. Spoilering also doesn’t work. What works is cooperation. Disney Lucasfilm needs realistic, reachable and profitable touchpoints to listen.
